As Motor Racing UK closes shop, TC Touring Car magazine launches.
All good things come to an end?
A phoenix rising from the ashes?
Choose your cliché!
After five years of incredibly hard work the time has come to say farewell to Motor Racing UK magazine. From when the project was first pitched to raise investment, to the final issue that arrived last month, it has been a fantastic personal journey – one that has given me the opportunity to gain some incredible friends, work with some outstanding people, and cover some amazing stories and stars in the sport.
We’ve been praised, we’ve been criticised. At times we’ve bluntly bludgeoned our way through controversial stories and made enemies, in other moments we’ve been big cuddly toys with a whimsical take on topics, but we never gave an inch when it came to our ethos of long form, in depth coverage.
Unusually for a magazine in this day and age Motor Racing UK isn’t calling it a day with plunging sales and a bank account in the red. In fact it’s quite the opposite on both fronts, but, in all honesty the five years of being editor/manager/administrator/sales/advertising/subscription manager, as well as layout/art direction/sub editing and the like on top of my core journalist and photography roles has caught up health wise, I can’t do all of those jobs at once – quite simply I have to look after myself a bit on that front.

I have to extend a massive thanks to everybody who has been a part of this journey, it’s humbling that so many people have reached out over the last few weeks, but the story hasn’t quite ended. The name Motor Racing UK will remain in my photography line, through my YouTube channel, website and socials, with all of those helping to promote a new print magazine, where I’ll be shifting to cover BTCC and TCR UK as a journalist and photographer.
The Motor Racing UK Ukraine logo will remain on the cover of TC- Touring Car magazine – reverting back to the old red version once our Ukrainian friends and family are at peace again.
TC – Touring Car magazine will launch later this month under the watchful eyes of Rob Andrews and Joe King who have been a part of the MRUK squad since the early days. The new magazine will exclusively cover Touring Car racing from around the world. BTCC (and supports) TCR UK (and TCR from around the world) DTM and the like will be the focus with a bit of Touring Car history added in.
More details of the new mag, and offers for MRUK subscribers to switch to TC, or refund their outstanding balance, will land later this week.
Finally, I’d like to thank those of you who have purchased or read Motor Racing UK over the last few years, cheers!
Mick
