Rob Andrews, Editor: “Over the last year and a half Motor Racing UK magazine switched its focus to cover the BTCC and TCR UK championships above all else. While some readers decided that the format wasn’t for them, fans of Touring Car Racing in the UK however really got behind the magazine. We’ve learned that there is still enough of a market for a print product and that Touring Car fans – a batch of sports fans who watch the racing on TV in their hundreds of thousands, and attend circuits in their tens of thousands – have been under-served. Hopefully we can make some of those readers happy with exclusive Tin Top coverage with TC – Touring Car magazine.”
Joseph King, Executive Editor: “The launch of TC – Touring Car magazine in the middle of a season might seem a little odd, but sometimes timing just goes that way. The opportunity to fill a gap was there, so we had to go for it. Touring Car fans do get some really, really good BTCC coverage from the other UK racing publications, but the rest of the Touring Car world struggles to fit in. I look at things like the Non-League Football paper, and their other publications for Cricket and Rugby, and you see dedicated teams covering their sports without it all being just about the Premier League, The Ashes or The Six Nations. We want to do the same here. There are some Touring Car fans who don’t want to wade through Formula One or Rallying coverage to get to their little section, so this is for them, because the numbers say that the category is popular enough.”
Mick Palmer: “I’ve worked on an almost daily basis for five years running Motor Racing UK magazine, it’s been a total blast, but the time has come for change. I’m really happy to continue to cover Touring Car racing in the UK by attending both BTCC and TCR UK meetings as a journalist and photographer for this new magazine. I’m in a privileged position where I get to spend time in the pitlane, paddock and trackside. The often unique aspects of that brings is something I love to share with readers, and this year I hope to share that even more in depth with opinions, features and interviews from the world of BTCC and TCR.”

Issue one bridges the gap between Motor Racing UK and TC – Touring Car. In depth reviews of TCR UK from Oulton Park, and BTCC from Snetterton, Thruxton and Oulton feature heavily, with plenty of comment from the drivers themselves. Who Tom Ingram is ready to push down the stairs, which BTCC racer considers the championship to be a ‘Qualifying formula’ where ‘this hybrid doesn’t work.’
An appreciation of the recently passed Steve Neal, and a consideration of whether Ash Sutton has become an Apex Predator (via Greenham Common and Watership Down) give a taste of what is to come.
Future issues will feature coverage of TCR World Tour and other TCR Regional and National championships (Europe, Australia, China etc,) DTM, Baltic and Ukrainian Toruing cars, Historic Tourers and more.
