An adjustment has been made to the 2025 TCR UK calendar which will see the previously announced Silverstone round ditched in favour of Belgian track Spa Francorchamps.

The championship will join forces with TCR Europe at the classic Ardennes circuit across the weekend of May 17/18 as part of a bill that includes International GT Open.

The move comes in the wake of the news that a TCR World Tour round at Oulton Park alongside TCR UK set for July has been ditched. That cancellation, as a result of a macho pablum standoff between WSC and Motorsport UK, comes in the wake of TCR homologation rules being enforced in 2025.

In an interview with TCR UK Championship Manager Jack Finlan Touring Car Magazine was told that an attractive offering would be made to ‘make up’ for the loss of the World Tour field coming to the UK, with an F1 track as part of the deal. When asked if it would be Spa there was no initial confirmation – until the announcement today.

One question yet to be answered for the race meeting, and whole season, is the choice of tyres. TCR UK has run on Goodyear rubber since 2019, and teams seem to believe that the deal will continue into next year. TCR Europe race with Hankook tyres. No word has been given yet as to whether TCR UK will remain on Goodyear for 2025, and if so whether they’d be expected to move to Hankook for the Spa round, as was expected for the Oulton Park meeting.

Championship promoter Stewart Lines said about the schedule change: “We’ve released the updated 2025 TCR UK Calendar today, providing our competitors with the chance to race on the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Joining TCR Europe will offer the experience of racing with a Regional TCR Series and providing plenty of TCR action across the weekend.”

The BARC meeting featuring the Civic Cup at Silverstone on that date will still go ahead as planned.
