Alistair Camp will make a fulltime step-up to the TCR UK championship with Area Motorsport for 2025.
Camp, who took a TCR UK race win in 2023 has appeared three times in the series – once last season and twice in 2023. The Civic Cup champion has had pace and has finished in the top 10 in each of his seven TCR starts.
After testing at the recent TR UK pre-season test, Camp stated: “After dipping my toe in the water on several occasions, I decided it was the perfect time to go all in and mount a full season entry in TCR UK. I’ve always enjoyed each of my previous visits in the championship. The recent Pre-Season test day showed me that I am competitive in a TCR car, and I left the test feeling really good about myself and the car. I always aim high each year, so I plan to visit the podium regularly whilst fighting at the front each weekend.”

The announcement yesterday that the championship is switching up a number of things with an aim to cut costs is designed to bring in extra drivers, and in the case of Camp it is to tempt competitive drivers of his ilk to make the move to a full Touring Car campaign.
TCR UK promoter Stewart Lines said: “I’m pleased to see Alistair announce that he will be a full-time driver on the grid. I look forward to seeing him fighting at the front of the field as he mounts a full-season challenge for the first time in the championship. Having announced the recent changes to cut costs ahead of the new season, it’s great to see drivers signing up now that the championship has become a more affordable option for them to race in this year.”
Camp, thanks to his solid and known form, will be viewed as a driver who will be visiting the podium throughout the year. After running with Pro-Alloys Racing (alongside his Civic Cup duties) in 2023, and with JH Racing for the final round of 2024, his new partnership with Area should allow him to bear fruit quickly. The squad (Who will also run Steve and Sam Laidlaw in a pair of Cupra Leon VZ cars) have had considerable success with the i30 previously, taking Bruce Winfield, Alex Ley and Adam Shepherd into championship contention with the type in 2023.
