MIKEY DOBLE: POWER MAXED RACING’S BTCC RETURN FOR 2025

Mikey Doble will remain with Power Maxed Racing for a third consecutive BTCC season in 2025.

The current Jack Sears Trophy holder will return to the Vauxhall Astra he has raced with the squad over the last two seasons with the team currently listed as a single car entry.

Doble was set to return already for 2025 when PMR announced in mid-February that they were experiencing financial difficulties. A major sponsorship withdrawal meant the team was struggling to find the required finance to enter this year, but a deal announced on Monday with Motor Parts Direct has significantly altered the outlook for the team this term.

Doble, who was half-a-lap away from a first BTCC win at Oulton Park last season, will have one eye on helping the team (which is hopeful of adding a second driver soon) defend the Independent Teams’ title this year, with the other on getting that breakthrough first win.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to the BTCC for a third straight year and aiming to kick on from what has already been an amazing couple of years in the championship. I’m delighted to be doing it with Power Maxed Racing and leading the charge there, showing everyone, our best is yet to come,” Doble said. “So far, I’ve accomplished everything that I set out to achieve in my first couple of years in the BTCC, including scoring a pole position in qualifying, an overall podium finish and of course winning the Jack Sears Trophy last season. This year we’re looking to take things up to the next level by challenging for podiums on a more regular basis, taking that Independent Drivers’ title and ultimately winning a race – it won’t be a success in my eyes if we don’t do the latter. Everyone at the team has been working really hard over these past few months and I cannot wait to get back out in the Vauxhall Astra, starting at Croft for the first official test in just a few weeks’ time.”

The news will come as a shot in the arm for Team Principal Adam Weaver. Known as a huge enthusiast, Weaver will be relieved that his squad will continue in the BTCC this season while it hunts for a return to winning ways, he stated: “We are incredibly happy to retain Mikey for a third successive season, which provides excellent continuity and consistency for the team. Mikey has done a great job in his first two seasons with us, we are fully aligned on our collective goals and cannot wait to get started. It has been a productive and important week for the team, having also welcomed Motor Parts Direct as joint Title Partner of Power Maxed Racing. Now, we can all look forward to the official pre-season tests prior to the season opener at Donington Park.”
