Nic Hamilton will make a return to the British Touring Car Championship for the 2025 season with Un-Limited Motorsport, racing a Cupra Leon alongside new teammates Max Hall and Dexter Patterson.
Hamilton, who has 132 starts in the championship will race a car that he is familiar with, having been behind the wheel of the Cupra with Team HARD for two-and-a-half seasons from 2021 to 2023.
During his last half-season in the series Hamilton scored his best BTCC result with a sixth placed finish in wet conditions with a fine drive at Donington Park. The performance put the BTCC front and centre in international motorsport news as he scored points as a disabled driver.
Born with Cerebral Palsy, he has used his position to promote disability inclusion by sending a strong message that he intends to continue to share in 2025. “There is a place in motorsport for disabled people to feel valued and accepted in multiple roles within the sport, and I want to open people’s eyes to that,” he said. “I want to continue to prove that motorsport is for everyone and that racing can be a platform for opportunity and inclusivity. Un-Limited Motorsport and my partners believe in what I stand for, my talent, and my purpose. If I can be accepted, then so can others with a disability.”

Hamilton made his BTCC debut in 2015 with AmD Tuning in an Audi S3 for a partial campaign before committing full time to the series with the Motorbase (now Alliance) Ford Focus RS in 2019. Three-and-a-half seasons with HARD followed, initially with the VW CC, then the newly developed Cupra Leon. That tenure ended at the halfway point of the 2023 season as HARD fell into financial difficulties, leaving Hamilton unable to build on his early season progress.
A return to the BTCC has been on the cards ever since. In the second half of 2023 Hamilton told Touring Car Magazine that the aim was for a quick return, but later he announced that 2024 would be spent on the sidelines. Last season at Silverstone he told us that he was certain to be back on the grid for this term after spending time at the meeting with Restart Racing, and in particular Jamie Warren – who had joined the team to run their Cupra pairing after the collapse of Team HARD. Warren moved to Un-Limited as the new Team Manager for 2025.

Team Owner Bob Sharpless is naturally pleased that the sophomore season for his outfit is on far more solid ground than 12 months ago. With three confirmed cars (thanks to a TBL shift) the team has already tested with Hall and Patterson and have confirmed a major sponsor. In contrast, the squad were still applying livery to their single car entry in the hours leading to their single car debut at Donington last year. A chance for a proper off-season preparation means that Un-Limited should be much better prepared for the rigours of BTCC competition.
“It’s fantastic to have Nic Hamilton join Un-Limited Motorsport. He’s hugely determined to get back on the BTCC grid, and I’m proud that we could make it happen,” Sharpless said. “Nic is not just an incredibly well-known driver—he’s an inspiration worldwide. The fact that he’s put his trust in our team speaks volumes about how far we’ve come in such a short time. We’re excited to support him on this journey and can’t wait to see what we achieve together.”
