Bradley Burns will become the latest driver to step up to the TCR UK championship as the former TCR Germany racer jumps into a Gen 2 Audi run by Area Motorsport to race at Donington Park this coming weekend.
Burns, who topped the table in the former TCR UK supporting Audi TT championship last year will return to the TCR class for the first time since 2019 when he finished 12th in the German series said: “I love racing on weekends, and part of the fun is going racing with friends and having a good time. That said, I know things are getting serious as I return to driving a TCR car for the first time in a few years.
“TCR has moved on a lot since I last competed full-time. I haven’t had a lot of time testing in the car, so working with Area will give me a solid base to start from. I’m aiming to have two good races and finish both races on Sunday.”
The former Clio Cup race winner raced a Honda Civic FK7 with Team Pyro in Germany – a team who raced in the inaugural TCR UK season with Ollie Taylor, Finlay Crocker and BTCC star Ash Sutton, His best result in the ADAC ran series was a second place at a round at Most in the Czech Republic.
Championship promoter Stewart Lines said: ““It’s great to see Bradley make his debut in TCR UK this weekend and that he’s also making a return to TCR itself. It’s an exciting, affordable, and competitive touring car formula to be a part of.”
“I’m delighted that we can also provide a diverse range of TCR manufacturers and models on the grid this weekend, with several drivers and teams making a return to the championship. I look forward to seeing how Bradley gets on with the Audi.”
