SARGEANT MARCHES BACK INTO TCR UK

Luke Sargeant will make a return to TCR UK competition this weekend at Donington Park racing his Audi RS3 with Vannin Motorsport.

Sargeant, who made his debut in the series with Area Motorsport in a Hyundai Elantra in 2023 started last season in a Cupra Leon Competicion before shifting to the German car.

The switch to the Audi mid-season at Silverstone was initially intended as a one-off, and resulted in results of seventh, sixth and fifth, but he was tempted to return at the last minute for Thruxton, without testing, for what turned out to be a struggle of a weekend. However, redemption came at the final round on the Silverstone International layout where he took the Audi to a pair of podium finishes. Afterwards Sargeant was adamant he would not return for 2025, but those results seem to have played positively over the winter.

“Finishing off 2024 with my first podium finishes in TCR UK has given me the drive to see how much further I can move up the field. Having support from Audi also means that I can work harder on the car to unlock the sweetspot and the pace, as I look to add further silverware to the cabinet this year,” Sargeant stated.

“I also have a further incentive to make my return to TCR UK this year. Now that plans have been finalised for the FIA TCR World Ranking Final to take place in Italy in November, I plan to move as far up the ranking as possible so I can compete in this end-of-year event. The only way is up from here.”

The addition of Sargeant, alongside Bradley Burns at Area means that two examples of the Gen 2 Audi will take to the grid this weekend.

Championship promoter Stewart Lines shared his thoughts on Sargeant returning to action: “With the two podiums that he scored during the finale last year, Luke has shown the progress he has made as a touring car driver. It’s great to see him return with the knowledge he already has of the car and the team, as well as gaining support from Audi. I’m looking forward to seeing Luke move up the grid this season.”
