ALEX JONES TO JOIN TCR UK AT SILVERSTONE

Alex Jones will join the TCR UK grid from the next round of the championship at Silverstone racing a Gen 1 VW Golf GTi with DW Racing.

The Go-Fix Managing Director has already seen the Go-Fix logo appear on the entire grid this season as part of a commercial tie with the championship, but the full Go-Fix branding will be on-track next month when Jones hits the circuit in his ex-George Jaxon machine.

Former FunCup and MSV all-Comers racer Jones was due to join the series last season with a Sport 77 Honda Civic before the team stepped back from the championship, and is looking forward to finally getting in the TCR UK mix.

“I’m excited to be going racing again after some time away. Seeing how well TCR UK has progressed in recent years, I want to be on the grid and be a part of the championship. Competing in the Gen 1 Cup gives me a chance to go racing again,” Jones explained..

“This year is about getting back behind the wheel and getting myself up to speed. However, I’m not there to make up the numbers. I plan to be race fit to enter the 2026 season full-time, so every race I compete in this year helps me to improve further. I love motorsport and I can’t wait to get back on track again.”

After no Gen 1 machines raced at the last round at Donington Park, there is expected to be at least three machines at Silverstone with the return of both Jeff Alden and Cedric Bloch, with hopes of a fourth car joining the class.

Championship promoter Stewart Lines said: “It’s great to see Alex announce his entry into TCR UK, and to see the Volkswagen Golf return to the grid. The Gen 1 Cup offers a chance for drivers to find out more about the TCR concept and be part of the experience that we are putting on this year.

“We’ve enjoyed two thrilling race weekends so far, with lots of positive feedback, which has led to more drivers and teams coming forward to see about competing in TCR UK in future events. I wish Alex all the best ahead of his debut at Silverstone.”
