POWER MAXED RACING FIRE: BTCC AND TCR CARS LOST

A fire has destroyed the base of BTCC race wining team Power Maxed Racing.

Team Owner Adam Weaver posted to Facebook on Saturday evening to state that a fire had torn through the Power Maxed production facilities – where the company also hosts the Power Maxed BTCC and TCR UK race teams – along with storage of other Touring Cars and equipment.

TCR UK promoter Stewart Lines confirmed that seven TCR cars and the full UK inventory of TCR Hyundai spares, along with three S2000 Touring Cars and the NGTC engined S2000 Vauxhall Vectra of Jeff Smith, were also lost, along with a Metro 6R4.

Weaver posted: “Today at 1pm I got a call to say that there was a big fire near our work premises.  I headed over, as I approached, it was easy to see that we were the fire! I then had to stand there and watch as 20 years of blood, sweat and tears burnt to the ground in about 20 minutes.”

Weaver and the PMR squad are considered as a solid Independent team in the BTCC where they have scored several overall victories, including at Snetterton this season with Mikey Doble. That win came after the team battled to get on the grid as a result of a major sponsorship withdrawal during the off-season. Nick Halstead joined from round two, and scored his first points with the team last Sunday at Croft.

The team has previously won races with Josh Cook, Jason Plato and Senna Proctor and last season won the Independent Team Championship, the Independent Driver title with Árón Taylor-Smith and the Jacks Sears Trophy with Doble.

Power Maxed has also raced in TCR UK this season with Finn Leslie, Harry Bloor, Rod McGovern and Jeff Alden. Their first win came with the late Dan Kirby in 2021, and the impressive Leslie sits fifth in the 2025 standings – which was bolstered with a BTCC debut at Oulton Park with Speedworks. How the fallout will hit TCR UK is unknown – but the saving grace is that the series only has two rounds left – Snetterton on September 14th and Brands Hatch on November 2nd – giving affected entries time to source drives.

The next BTCC round is one week away, with set up at Knockhill due to begin on Thursday. The official Power Maxed socials stated that they are ready to fight to return to the championship by posting: “We will do everything in our power to do some kind of A-Team type miracle to see you at Knockhill.”
