GEORGE JAXON SWITCHES TO CUPRA LEON VZ FOR TCR UK

Vannin Motorsport racer George Jaxon will switch to a new Cupra Leon VZ in time for the upcoming Snetterton round of the 2025 TCR UK season.

After racing a VW Golf GTI and Audi RS3 LMS this season Jaxon moves into the newest TCR car on the market, joining championship challengers Adam Shepherd and Sam and Steve Laidlaw in racing the newest Cupra model in the UK.

“I’ve enjoyed my first season back in TCR UK, and I’m thrilled to have made steps forward with each race weekend,” Jaxon stated. “Whilst I have enjoyed driving the Audi Gen 2 car, it’s clear to me that the VZ TCR is more suited to UK circuits and that is the way forward for me.”

Jaxon first entered TCR UK with Team HARD at the final round of the 2022 season before racing with JW Bird in 2023 in a Cupra Leon Competicion and a Gen 1 Audi. A year in the BTCC supporting Porsche Sprint Challenge followed before a fulltime campaign in TCR UK began this season.

Currently sitting eighth in the standings, Jaxon scored his career best TCR result of fourth at Silverstone, and the move to the VZ is part of a longer term aims.

“I made my commitment to racing in TCR UK earlier this year, and purchasing the VZ is the next step in my long-term plans. Snetterton and Brands Hatch will provide me with a chance to learn more about the car, ahead of my planned full-time entry for the 2026 season.”

The arrival of a new car is a piece of good news for the championship after seven TCR machines – including cars that were being raced with full season entries – were lost in the Power Maxed fire which destroyed the BTCC Astra machines that the outfit races.

“George has already shown impressive improvement in his first season back in TCR UK at the wheel of the Audi, so it’s good to see another new TCR car join the grid for Snetterton and beyond,” TCR UK promoter Stewart Lines said.

“As we reach the penultimate event of the 2025 season, drivers and teams are already looking ahead to the 2026 season. I’m very happy to see George planning to be back with the VZ to return full-time next year, and I wish him all the best in the final two events of this season.”
