COOK TO TOYOTA, JELLEY TO CARRERA CUP AS ONE WITHDRAWS

Josh Cook will make a return the Speedworks Toyota team for the rest of the BTCC season, and Stephen Jelley has once again teamed up with his former squad Team Parker to contest Porsche Carrera Cup GB after the withdrawal of One Motorsport from the championship.

The Honda Civic team pulled out at the halfway point of the season citing the health of team owner Steve Dudman as the reason for missing the rest of 2025, after returning from a 2024 sabbatical. The team aim to return in 2026.

Cook, who won races with Speedworks last term has been in the Speedworks garage for the last couple of rounds coaching rookie racer Max Buxton after he made the plunge to see out the year with the team.

In the press release revealing that Cook would replace James Dorlin he stated: “I’m really excited to be returning to the track in the Toyota. It’s all come together quite last-minute, and I need to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everybody at Speedworks Motorsport for giving me this opportunity. I’m very much looking forward to working alongside the whole TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA crew and my three new team-mates.

“It’s been a few weeks since I was last in a BTCC car, and the Corolla is now 55kg lighter than when I previously drove it due to the removal of the hybrid system. There will inevitably be some initial set-up exploration to get it into a place where I feel happy and comfortable, but I know the team well and they know the car inside-out, so I’m confident that together, we can quickly get up-to-speed and begin pushing for some strong results.”

While Dorlin is stepping aside he remains s a part of the Speedworks setup: “I’ve really enjoyed being part of the Speedworks and TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA set-up in the BTCC, but things haven’t worked out as we’d hoped recently. It’s been a tough decision for us all to take, particularly with the strong relationship we’ve built, but we feel it is more beneficial at this stage to step back and focus with the team on 2026, when the aim will be to challenge for podiums and race wins together.”

Jelley, also affected by the One withdrawal, appeared with Un-Limited Motorsport at Croft but stepped aside after one round with the team, allowing the Cupra he raced to be moved over to Power Maxed in the wake of the fire that forced the team to change cars.

Jelley raced in the series last year, but his return for this weekend is with Team Parker. The driver/team pairing tasted success together previously in the BTCC when they were declared winners of the third Oulton Park BTCC race in 2019.

This is not the first change of driver for Speedworks in 2025. Buxton came in after Finn Leslie made a one-off appearance at Oulton Park following the exit of Ronan Pearson from the team.
