Barry-John McHenry is the latest driver to commit to TCR UK for the 2026 season. The Irish racer will make his debut after partnering with Vannin Motorsport to hit the track in an Audi RS3 LMS.
Based in Dunshaughlin, to the North West of Dublin, McHenry has raced in the UK previously in the Fiesta ST Championship, as well as being involved in the Irish motorsport scene both on and off the track.
McHenry, who will race an ex-Volcano TCR World Tour car said: “Joining TCR UK is a great opportunity, and I’m excited to get racing again.”
McHenry took delivery of the Audi last year, which was shaken down and tested across the summer months at Kirkistown in Northern Ireland with support from Kellett Motorsport – a team with which he topped the podium seven times across a series of championships over a 12 year period.
In partnering with Cheshire based Vannin for TCR UK this term, he will be working with a team that engineered the same Gen 2 RS3 model for George Jaxon, Luke Sargeant and Jordan Kerridge across the 2025 season.
McHenry, who has run his car sales business out of Dunshaughlin for over 20 years, has also been a keen supporter of up and coming Irish talent in the sport. “I’ve spent the last few years working closely with and supporting other drivers, so I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car myself,” he said.
In 2025 that included Nathan Sweeny who raced in the Irish Championship Circuit Racing Junior Mini Challenge in 2025, Former Mini JCW race winner Alex Denning who races as a Lamborghini Junior and Formula Two race winner Alex Dunne.
TCr UK Championship Manager Jack Finlan added: “It’s great to see Barry-John joining the TCR UK Championship. He brings a lot of experience from different categories, and it’s always encouraging to see drivers make the step into TCR. We’re looking forward to seeing how he gets on in 2026.”
