MCGOVERN TO RETURN WITH POWER MAXED FOR 2026 TCR UK SEASON

Rod McGovern is set to return to TCR UK for the 2026 season, once again teaming up with BTCC squad Power Maxed Racing.

McGovern, a former SEAT Supercup Ireland champion made his TCR UK debut last season with JH Racing, dipping his toes into the series for the opening round in a Hyundai i30 N. A debut fifth place followed by a pair of top 10 finishes led to stepping up to a Cupra Leon Competicion for the remainder of the campaign.

After taking on the two-time championship winning Cupra raced by Carl Boardley in 2023 and 2024, McGovern looked set to see out the season, however the car was destroyed in the Power Maxed fire during the summer. With two rounds of the 2025 championship left McGovern was forced to sit out the final rounds.

“I’m really pleased to be returning to TCR UK and continuing with Power Maxed Racing,” McGovern stated. “The team knows the championship inside out, and staying together gives us a great platform to keep progressing. I’m looking forward to getting back on track and building on what we’ve already learned.”

Once again McGovern will pilot a car with a pedigree. The TCR Europe Championship winning Cupra Leon VZ raced by Jenson Brickley last season has been acquired, meaning that McGovern and Power Maxed will be up to date with a latest generation machine.

Championship Manager Jack Finlan said: “It’s great to see Rod continuing in the TCR UK Championship with Power Maxed Racing. He’s got a strong background in touring cars and valuable experience in TCR machinery, and continuity like this is always positive. We’re looking forward to seeing him back on the grid this season.”
