KERRY CONFIRMS TCR UK RETURN

2024 TCR UK Gen One Champion Rick Kerry will return to the series in a full time capacity in 2026 , racing the ex-Callum Newsham Hyundai i30 N with EDF Motorsport.

After racing with CTCRC in an ex-BTC Peugeot 406 last season, former BTCC Kerry returned to the TCR UK paddock for the final round of 2026 to get some running in the Hyundai at the Brands Hatch finale.

“The car’s got a lot more potential to go faster,” he said at Brands after his first race in the i30. “The front end grip’s a lot, lot better. On the start I pulled away really nice, but I pulled away and changed up like I would on the Leon and it bogged down, so I changed up too quick. There’s going to be different things you’ve got to learn it first. It’s got more potential. I’m already going quicker than in the Gen One, and I still probably think it’s a good second just on me improving and knowing the car and sorting out the down shift. This is just a learning curve for next season. So we’ll come back and get some practice in and be ready to go.”

The relationship with Eddie Farrow and EDF delivered the Gen One crown with a Cupra Leon, and last season kept the recalcitrant  406 on the grid despite some serious engine issues, but the aim for this season with a car with an impressive TCR UK is to find success in the main championship.

“I had a great first run in the Hyundai i30 at the final round last year,” he commented. “Coming home seventh, and straight away it felt like a car that can genuinely compete for podiums. I’ve raced across a lot of different championships over the years, but the level in TCR UK is incredibly strong, and having a package like this gives us a real opportunity. If we can be fighting at the front and maybe even nick a win along the way, that would be fantastic.”

Championship Manager Jack Finlan added: “It’s great to see Rick continuing in the TCR UK Championship for 2026. He brings a huge amount of experience from touring cars and beyond, and it’s always exciting to see drivers with that background competing in the series. We’re looking forward to seeing what Rick and EDF Motorsports can achieve together this season.”
