TCR UK 2026: BRAD HUTCHISON AIMS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP GLORY

Four time race winner Brad Hutchison will return to TCR UK for a fifth season with the family run MPHR team.

With partners Elland Roofing taking a title sponsorship role Hutchison is aiming to top his best TCR UK finish of second, which he achieved in 2024.

“I’m very happy to say that I’ll be back in 2026, and this is the year where I go for the driver’s title. We’ve been in the title fight for the last two years in a row, we have plenty of experience in TCR UK and running various different TCR cars, so this is it” Hutchison said. “ I’m very grateful to Elland Roofing Supplies, who come on board as our new title sponsor, and I look forward to revealing which car we will be using in the near future. There are no excuses anymore and no hiding. It’s the 2026 TCR UK Title, and we’ll give our all to win it this year.”

The journey through TCR UK for Brad and the team, run by his father Martin, has been a tale of being one step behind in machinery for much of the past four seasons. Initially entering with Gen 1 Audi, they found themselves managing to keep up with the Gen 2 cars that were coming into the series across 2022 and into 2023.

A switch to a Cupra Leon Competicion for the last couple of rounds of the 2023 season set them up for a title charge in 2024, but heading into last term they found themselves facing their initial problem as the top half of the grid began migrating  to newer cars such as the Cupra Leon VZ throughout the season

The team are yet to announce what car they will run next year, but it has become clear that to challenge for a TCR UK title means the Leon Competicion is effectively old hat. With Callum Newsham continuing in the Hyundai Elantra, 2020 and 21 champion Lewis Kent returning to the series in a Lynk & Co 03 and DTR Racing bringing the fully developed Honda Civic FL5 with JAS Motorsport backing to the grid, the need for cutting edge machinery is stronger than ever.

The news brings the total number of publicly confirmed drivers to nine for the upcoming season. A number of other drivers with championship ambitions are ready to commit to the series, with a grid beginning to form that would appear to be shaping up to be stronger than last season.

TCR UK Championship Manager Jack Finlan stated: “Brad, Martin and MPH Racing embody the true lad and dad family-run team in Touring Car racing, and they have taken the fight to the bigger teams each year. In the last two years, they have been title contenders and shown that they can punch above their weight, showing the true spirit of TCR.

“Brad is a race winner, and the team has often shown that they can overcome adversity and show their best work on track. I look forward to seeing which model of TCR car the team choose and wish them all the best ahead of the new season.”
