DEXTER PATTERSON JOINS POWER MAXED RACING FOR 2026 BTCC SEASON

Dexter Patterson has is the first driver to be named to the 2026 Power Maxed Racing roster as the team brings the Audi brand back to the BTCC.

Scottish racer Patterson returned to the series last term after a year racing GT4 machinery in Europe, but was hampered in his ability to display his performance due to the limitations of racing a Cupra Léon.

“I’m really excited to be joining Power Maxed Racing at such an important time for the team. The move to the Audi S3 makes this a fresh project for everyone, and that’s something that really motivated me,” Patterson stated. “Last season showed what we’re capable of when everything comes together. For 2026, the goal is to start strongly, keep building momentum, and make sure we’re fighting consistently at the front end of the grid.”

Team Principal Adam Weaver said of the former Sauber F1 academy racer: “Dexter hasn’t yet had the full opportunity to show what he’s truly capable of in the BTCC, but his CV speaks for itself. His karting record was phenomenal, and when you add his single-seater experience to his touring car background, he brings far more depth and race knowledge than people perhaps realise. Heading into 2026, it was important for us to put ourselves in a position to challenge across the board, and Dexter gives us that platform. As a minimum, he’ll be a serious contender for the Jack Sears Trophy, and we’re determined to bring that title back to Power Maxed Racing.”

The team were perhaps the story of the season last year and the Patterson family played their part in a tale that will go down in BTCC folklore. After the devastating fire that wiped out the team after Croft, the Patterson family loaned their Cupra Léon to the team, along with a car from Un-Limited, who Dexter was racing for at the time. The move puts to bed erroneous rumours about the family forming their own team with the uncompetitive Cupra.

Patterson will aim for the Jack Sears Trophy in the first year with the S3 on the grid. Last season he finished fourth in the category with two class wins, Patterson also achieved a career high ninth place in the Cupra, the only top 10 finish that the car would achieve all year.
